nh1402yangm: excellent news11:34
nh1402sledges: can you make a video about the android app compatibility progress, making CM stable is going to need some android guy's help11:35
nh1402and someone is bound to know about how to get it to co-exist with Sailfish11:35
yangmI was thinking about making android "an app"11:36
nh1402yangm: How do you mean11:36
yangmmaybe using xforwarding11:37
sledgesnh1402: i might not have enough time to ramp-up, anyone else could?11:37
sledgesdoing other things atm11:37
nh1402no problem11:37
carepackMSameer: ping11:37
nh1402yangm: what's xforwarding11:37
yangmnh1402, when you ssh into a linux with x11 installed and use xforwarding you can run GUI applications from ssh11:38
nh1402Android doesn't use x1111:39
yangmhttp://sysnews.ma.ic.ac.uk/ssh/ssh-forwarding-example.jpg11:39
yangmlike this11:39
yangmoh... so there's no way to forward gui programs?11:39
yangmthat kinda kills my idea of integration11:40
nh1402we would have tried that some time ago if that was possible, or at least talk about it11:40
yangmyep11:41
nh1402any other ideas?11:42
tbrthe concept for AOSP as an app would be a virtual framebuffer11:42
yangmI was thinking about vnc too but it would be hell11:42
tbra closer look at aliendalvik would probably show their approach being similar11:42
tbrboth X11 over TCP and VNC are far too high level for this11:43
yangmtbr, how that would work?11:43
nh1402the thing with android drawing to the screen is it uses trible buffering with overlays so not everything goes through surfaceflinger, a way to disable triple buffering is to turn off hw overlays11:43
nh1402which I *think*  means that everything draws through surfaceflinger, we would then have to find a way to get surfaceflinger to draw to a virtual framebuffer11:44
tbrisn't apkenv already doing something like that?11:45
tbrfor native apps11:45
nh1402native apps use opengl directly, I think.11:47
tbryeah, but something needs to draw to some sort of memory11:47
tbrbasically I'd expect this to be something vaguely similar to running the graphical bits of AOSP under apkenv, while also having all the expected services like surfaceflinger and audioflinger available to the apps11:48

nh1402tbr:  mEGLDisplay = eglGetDisplay(EGL_DEFAULT_DISPLAY);12:09
nh1402    eglInitialize(mEGLDisplay, NULL, NULL);12:09
nh1402I believe this is what makes it use fb0 by default if we change it to https://bpaste.net/show/bb623b679131 then it could work, right?12:09
nh1402with the right variable names of course12:10
tbrwell if surfaceflinger can use EGL directly, then let it handle stuff and point it to fb0 just like any other native apk?12:21

carepackdroidmedia. Until now prevent me that I don't know if gstreamer1.0 can run on top of cm10.1.17:39

MSameerI am sure sledges can help with those ;)17:40

*** piggz <piggz!~piggz@80.234.155.67> has joined #sailfishos-porters17:51
mal-MSameer: that .spec doesn't really build anything, it just packages it17:51
spiiroinrandom fbdev note: mce opens /dev/fb0 too. main purpose is to keep display powered up during shutdown (past lipstick exit). but on devices that do not have early suspend kernel -> FBIOBLANK ioctls() calls are also made17:51
MSameeric17:51
mal-so you first build libdroidmedia minimediaservice minisfservice in HA_BUILD and then package those and needed droidmedia headers and then use that script to package droidmedia17:52
