TheRealJohnGaltmal-: looking like the problem is [ril] Retry data call on PDP_FAIL_ERROR_UNSPECIFIED. Fixes JB#3540601:36
TheRealJohnGaltI'm going to do a totally fresh build to verify since there's been some weird stuff from just installing/uninstalling packages.01:37
TheRealJohnGaltlooking at the commit, it doesn't make sense why that would break it though https://git.merproject.org/mer-core/ofono/commit/9cae262c80e38e93edaeb34650366c4c848fca2601:38
TheRealJohnGaltnvm, the build wasn't done, so I didn't actually install the earlier revisino.01:40

TheRealJohnGaltmal-: I've gone all the way back with those ofono commits attempting to bisect, and haven't been able to get mobile data working. The official 2.0.1.11 packages are good however. Is there another package I should be looking at? Also, the dbus issue isn't present on the older ofono (and related) packages, which is good news since it makes on-device updates05:11
TheRealJohnGaltmore reasonable...though future releases are still off-limits due to no mobile data.05:11
TheRealJohnGaltsledges: I believe the nexus 5 wiki should be edited to discourage ota updates on cm11 since they'll break mobile data. Even just ota'ing to 2.0.1.11 (or doing a full zypper or pkcon update on 2.0.1.11 already), since as of June 14th the packages in the common repo will break it (even with new ril_subscription.conf).05:13

vam52managed to do it with vi at last, he he13:33
vam52cm-11.0 , i can't remember now, at first I tried cm10.1 actually, from here: https://github.com/maikelwever/sfa-mer/blob/master/device/htc/pyramid.xml13:34
vam52but then started from scratch with cm-11, thinking why cm10 when cm-11 availble.13:36
vam52mal-: do tou thing it's better to try cm-12.1?13:38
vam52and maybe another reason was that I found cyanogen image from june 2016 and it was most recent version I've seen so far13:40
vam52and people say that 12-13 can be slow with 512M13:41
ghosalmartinis it alright to unpackage a cm zip and edit a file nad then repackage it? or would that damage the archive?13:42

vam52mine is cm11 from june 1013:53
vam52cm-11-20160610-UNOFFICIAL-pyramid13:53
mal-vam52: the thing with cm11 is that the adaptation repos for sailfish use a quite old version so the android zip should match that as close as possible and that release was made on 4 Nov 201413:53
vam52oh13:54
vam52pretty old13:55
mal-yes13:55
vam52what is the best option then13:55

vam52there is a lot of bugfixes since then13:56
vam52cm12.1 is more fresh than cm11?13:56
vam52and you use cm11 from November 2014, right?13:57
mal-yes, cm12.1 uses stable/cm-12.1-YOG7D which is the latest stable release13:57
mal-using cm12.1 base would be the easiest way13:58
mal-vam52: you can try also using an older cm11 zip but I don't know how well those have support for hardware13:59
mal-those might be some early release with many features broken13:59
mal-or they might work fine, you can only know by testing13:59
vam52is it true that cm12 is much more slow then cm11 on old devices?14:00
mal-vam52: maybe not in sailfish because the UI side of android is the thing that makes those devices slower14:00
mal-vam52: actually on my cm11 ports I use a cm11 zip from July 2015 without problems14:01
mal-vam52: could you get some logs from your device, pastebin the output of the following commands: dmesg, journalctl -a, systemctl and /usr/libexec/droid-hybris/system/bin/logcat14:02

UmeaboyTheRealJohnGalt: Can I use that repo as well for scorpion to get mobile data working?18:38
TheRealJohnGaltI could also note that it will break mobile data, but I'm not sure why there should be instructions for something that causes issues.18:38
TheRealJohnGaltUmeaboy: lines 73+ http://piratepad.net/hadk-faq18:39
mal-TheRealJohnGalt: ok18:41
mal-Umeaboy: of course hybris-11.0 can be used if cm-12.1 is not available18:42
mal-TheRealJohnGalt: or change the instructions18:42
mal-TheRealJohnGalt: didn't the default ofono in 2.0.1.11 work?18:43
Umeaboymal-: OK.18:43
TheRealJohnGaltmal-: Yes, but I'm not sure the issue is ofono. I believe it might be another package. I went all the way back to 8d46ababee9909954b5258cdf8d35d217f9aef78 attempting to bisect and failed.18:44
TheRealJohnGaltI still need to bisect the other packages that changed from your testing2 repo in april.18:44
mal-TheRealJohnGalt: sure it can be one of those other ofono related packages18:44
mal-but still very odd why one device would break18:45
UmeaboyShould the installation say that it failed to mount /data because the Device or resource is busy?18:46
UmeaboyWhat will that affect?18:46
UmeaboyThe installation continues, but I'm just curious.18:46
Umeaboymount: failed to mount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata at /data: Device or resource busy18:47
TheRealJohnGaltmal-: It breaks on both cm11 and cm12.1 base. ins_ ota'd successfully on cm11 on june 13th (one day prior to those repos being updated). On June 14th, cm11 otas started breaking mobile data (even after ril_subscription.conf and jolla-settings-mask changes). You say "...odd why one device would break," but there probably isn't a large enough sample size of18:47

TheRealJohnGaltThat wiki page is only for cm11. So to change the instructions, I'd need to make another repo with only the 2.0.1.11 ofono-dependent packages. Currently they're in my home project which is for cm12.1 (and will trigger other updates that will cause problems).18:49
mal-TheRealJohnGalt: quite a lot of the recent ports work with that and even some of the older ones started working (well starting from testing2)18:51
mal-TheRealJohnGalt: why not just remove the common repo from OTA instructions18:52
mal-hmm, but that is indeed a slight problem that some of the other packages might be missing18:53
