granpchey. just wondering what's the progress on hybris/mer for armv8 devices00:09
granpci got hybris "working" (in a very hacky way) on 64 bit device a while back, but i heard there's been some work on better official support00:09
sledgesgranpc: 64bit support is within the codes: https://github.com/mer-hybris/droid-hal-device/blob/master/helpers/build_packages.sh#L134 https://github.com/mer-hybris/droid-hal-device/blob/master/droid-hal-device.inc#L25400:15
sledgesalso use hadk v1.9.9 to stay up-to-date with other porting processes (not related to 64bit/android6, as hadk is arch independent)00:17
granpcoh cool00:17
granpcis it possible to build with a 64 bit android 5.1 base?00:18
sledgesandroid5 and older do not work with 64bit devices00:22
sledgesandroid6 introduced 64bit support00:23
granpchmm. my device is android 5 and most definitely 64 bit00:23
sledgesunless some weird exceptions exist that i've not known of00:23
granpcit actually has a mixed userspace thing, where it has /system/lib and /system/lib6400:23
granpcmultiarch or something00:23
sledgesthat's the case in android6 pretty much everywhere too00:24
sledgesas e.g. camera stack is still 32bit00:24
granpcaccording to https://developer.android.com/about/versions/lollipop.html -- "Android 5.0 introduces platform support for 64-bit architectures"00:24
sledgesyes, but the first mainstream 64bit phones have all come out with android600:25
sledgeswhat is your device?00:25
granpcjiayu s3 plus (chinese mediatek phone)00:25
granpcmy zenfone 2 is also 64 bit/android 500:26
sledgeswell you should have started with that00:26
sledgesmediatek is far from working on sailfishos00:26
granpcalthough the zenfone 2 is x86 so that probably makes things even harder00:26
granpcoh yeah I'm aware00:26
granpcit is sorta possible to get it working with some bits from ubuntu touch00:26
sledgesand hence i've not considered mediatek when saying about 64bit+android6 combo00:27
sledgesoh yes it's possible, there are libhybris branches and qpa surfaceflinger plugin to kickstart things, you can see my conversation with ruthenianboy a month ago on that in channel logs, where i explained how to get UI on a mtk device00:28
granpcqpa surfaceflinger plugin?00:28
sledgesbut at least 64bit aspects are now in the upstream codes ^^00:28
granpcso you guys didn't manage to get hwcomposer working either00:28
granpchaha00:28
sledgeshis device did not have hwc00:28
granpclol. nice00:29
granpcmine does but I can only get it to blank/unblank the display00:29
sledgessflinger does works as well00:29
granpcso i made my own surfaceflinger egl platform, which sorta worked00:29
granpchad no idea there's a surfaceflinger plugin already00:29
sledgesbeen written long time ago by one fellow00:29
sledges*works just as well as hwc00:30
granpci'll take a look at the logs and see if i can get sailfish running then!00:30
sledgesi know a case of hwc working on mtk on a sailfish device, and will share more when i can00:30
granpcthat would be useful so i can take a look at it00:31
granpci'll stick around on irc. thank you!00:31
sledgesbut like i said, sflinger is just as good00:31
sledgesfor the time being00:31
granpci had some artifacts with my implementation but it was not too bad00:31
granpcmy version probably just sucks00:31

echyrskii would like to build sailfishOs for my tablet (xperia Z4 771). I already have working setup to build LineageOs(CM14.1 based on AOSP 7.1.1). So looks like i need to build libhybrids for my device and the port MER on top of it wilch will allow to run sailfish. In #sailfish thread mal mentioned that there is a code base for 14.1 which is partially working so i am wondering whether or not it is possible to check it out fro09:43

echyrski:) ok thanks! I recall that there were some patches for bionic (at least in <cm13) in order to be able to build libhybrids. Are there some for cm14.1?09:50
ghosalmartinechyrski, yeah there in that repo under hybris-14.109:51
malechyrski: it works otherwise but graphics still fail, I need to fix it, maybe try the minimal hooks patches and see if those help09:53

malechyrski: currently the hybris-14.1 repos are split in two repos so not very simple, I do not recommened those to be used yet10:02
malechyrski: also there is the problem that no stable release or 14.1 exists yet so making patched repos is a problem if upstream changes often10:05
echyrskii see. As ghosalmartin suggested i am looking at https://github.com/mer-hybris/libhybris/tree/mm64-rpm/libhybris/hybris/common and i dont see any patches related to Nougat. The lates patches i see are for MM. I  understand that 14.1 is a work in progress and ttl of pathces is quite short but if you have some even outdated please share( i believe it will be still easier to adjust outdated patches for 14.1 rather than cre10:13
