  2. Fingerprint sensor API (15 min), asked by nh1402 (Jaymzz, 08:05:41)
    1. I have plans to make an app that would make use of the fingerprint sensor, adding shortcuts via swipe gestures on the fingerprint sensor, but noticed that there doesn't seem to be any API for developers. Fingerprint sensor support in Alien Dalvik would also be nice. (Jaymzz, 08:05:55)
    2. Our implementation of the fingerprint scanner is currently not enough to provide a stablt platform API (Jaymzz, 08:11:28)
    3. there might be the need of major changes in interfaces and layering in order to support Android API or advanced features like gesture control (Jaymzz, 08:15:57)

  3. QtLocation and QtWebEngine (15 min), asked by Nokius, TheBootroo (Jaymzz, 08:27:23)
    1. Are the Qt modules QtLocation and QtWebEngine available for developers in SailfishOS 2.1.1? This are needed cherries for application developers. (Jaymzz, 08:27:40)
    2. https://blogs.gnome.org/mcatanzaro/2017/02/08/an-update-on-webkit-security-updates/ (Jaymzz, 08:34:25)
    3. Sailfish WebView (gecko based) is not read yet, work in progress (Jaymzz, 08:34:47)
    4. we cannot pre-install qtwebengine and qtlocation due to gpl3 , but should be possibly to make them available in package repos for 3rd party (Jaymzz, 08:35:13)
    5. https://github.com/martinbrook/quicksilver (nh1402, 08:43:29)
    6. https://github.com/martinbrook/quicksilver (Jaymzz, 08:43:44)

  4. Qt 5.9 adaptation in Sailfish OS (15 min), asked bt Nokius, TheBootroo (Jaymzz, 08:44:00)
    1. Qt 5.9 would bring features like better Qt3D, WebEngine, and almost stable speech. It's currently in RC and Qt 5.9 LTS Final is between end of May and mid-June. (Jaymzz, 08:44:12)
    2. to the original author (see prev topic) https://github.com/tworaz/quicksilver (Jaymzz, 08:46:20)
    3. we just updated to Qt 5.6, which is considerable effort, no short term plans to migrate to Qt 5.9 (Jaymzz, 08:50:43)
    4. that being said we should update to newer Qt releases on regular intervals, apparently "Qt 5.9 is a great improvement on Qt 5.6 (I expect around 15% on average when it is released) " http://blog.qt.io/blog/2017/04/27/performance-regression-testing-qt-quick/ (Jaymzz, 08:53:19)
    5. http://blog.qt.io/blog/2017/04/27/performance-regression-testing-qt-quick/ (Jaymzz, 08:53:29)
    6. Qt 5.7+ changes licensing, but it should not affect apps that much, it will rather affect the platform side. (Jaymzz, 08:57:26)
    7. http://blog.qt.io/blog/2016/01/13/new-agreement-with-the-kde-free-qt-foundation/ (Jaymzz, 08:57:39)

  5. implement fix for A-28759139 / BID 73286 in kernel-net-sockets (10 min) asked by lpr (Jaymzz, 09:01:57)
    1. https://together.jolla.com/question/161453/validate-the-range-we-feed-to-iov_iter_init-in-sys_sendtosys_recvfrom-in-kernel-net-cve-2015-2686-critical/ : fix for cve-2015-2686 (kernel 3.19 only) will fix A-28759139/BID 73286 on kernel before 3.19 (e.g. 3.4-jolla1, 3.10-jollac)
  6. OTA via settings UI for ported devices (10 min) asked by nh1402 (Jaymzz, 09:18:35)
    1. It would be nice to be able to update phones via a GUI in the settings. At the moment it's only possible via command-line arguments, which already should be the same across devices (I think). (Jaymzz, 09:18:45)
    2. At the moment we do not have resources to maintain community port update information on our store backend, which is used for checking the system updates (Jaymzz, 09:23:03)

  7. General discussion (15 min) (Jaymzz, 09:32:34)
  8. Next meeting’s time and date (5 min) (Jaymzz, 09:47:37)
    1. Next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 14th of June 2017 at 08:00 UTC, see you then (Jaymzz, 09:49:03)

Meeting ended at 09:49:23 UTC (full logs).
