================================================================================== #sailfishos-meeting: Sailfish OS, open source, collaboration -- 12th February 2026 ================================================================================== Meeting started by rainemak at 16:01:49 UTC. The full logs are available at https://irclogs.sailfishos.org/meetings/sailfishos-meeting/2026/sailfishos-meeting.2026-02-12-16.01.log.html . Meeting summary --------------- * Meeting information and agenda can be found here: (rainemak, 16:01:49) * LINK: https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/27468 (rainemak, 16:01:50) * Brief introduction (5 min). Please prefix your name/handle with #info (rainemak, 16:01:54) * Raine Mäkeläinen, Jolla (rainemak, 16:02:02) * Ruben De Smet - rubdos - community (rubdos[m], 16:02:20) * Matti Viljanen, Jolla (direc85[m], 16:02:41) * mettska, User (mettska, 16:04:50) * Andrew Branson, Jolla (abranson, 16:05:06) * Will the J2 have HBM (high brightness mode) (5 mins -- MeeGo-Junky) (rainemak, 16:07:11) * In the region where I live HBM is really essential: (rainemak, 16:07:19) * On the Xperia 10 V with current 5.0.0.72 beta there is no (rainemak, 16:07:19) * HBM (at least to my awareness) and this renders the (rainemak, 16:07:19) * device useless outdoors, meaningful use only indoors (rainemak, 16:07:19) * possible. The same device with stock Andoid (that has (rainemak, 16:07:20) * HBM) is a pleasure to use. (rainemak, 16:07:21) * Also on my Volla Quintus HBM makes a striking difference: (rainemak, 16:07:23) * with HBM enabled, SFOS shines and the device is useable (rainemak, 16:07:25) * outdoors. (rainemak, 16:07:27) * Therefore: is there anything planned about the screen (rainemak, 16:07:29) * brightness of J2? (rainemak, 16:07:31) * We cannot yet confirm the HBM but taken into account. HBM (rainemak, 16:07:33) * should be ~800 nits. We are working on a more technical Forum (rainemak, 16:07:35) * post. We'll try to cover various questions that have been asked (rainemak, 16:07:37) * at the Forum and on other channels. Let's try to cover this one (rainemak, 16:07:39) * in more detail as well. Every day matters when clarifying (rainemak, 16:07:41) * things. (rainemak, 16:07:43) * Unreliability of Android apps in secondary user accounts (10 mins -- asked by headlamp_mapper) (rainemak, 16:14:22) * Installing Android apps on secondary user accounts (rainemak, 16:14:28) * seems to work correctly at first (they can run in the (rainemak, 16:14:28) * background and send notifications). When switching (rainemak, 16:14:28) * users to defaultuser and back to the secondary (rainemak, 16:14:28) * account, the apps disappear from the app drawer. The (rainemak, 16:14:28) * apps still work (notifications work and apps can be (rainemak, 16:14:30) * opened from push notifications). Is this a known bug (rainemak, 16:14:31) * and can Jolla investigate? (rainemak, 16:14:33) * First a bit of background. Work on the Sailfish OS multiuser (rainemak, 16:15:00) * support started around 2020 and back then requirements were such (rainemak, 16:15:01) * that Android apps won't show up for additional users. Further, (rainemak, 16:15:01) * some OS features will not be available for additional users. One (rainemak, 16:15:01) * could think an additional user as a limited user. (rainemak, 16:15:01) * (rainemak, 16:15:02) * Application data is stored per user but a Sailfish OS (rainemak, 16:15:03) * application is installed so that they are shared for all users (rainemak, 16:15:05) * (as per harbour guidelines). Back in that time also Android apps (rainemak, 16:15:07) * were shared between all the users. Thus, we needed to "hide" (rainemak, 16:15:09) * them from the additional users. (rainemak, 16:15:11) * (rainemak, 16:15:13) * Less than 2 years ago AppSupport instances were changed to be (rainemak, 16:15:15) * user specific. After this change we could in theory allow (rainemak, 16:15:17) * installation of Android for additional users as well. Probably (rainemak, 16:15:21) * this should be controlled by the device owner (defaultuser). (rainemak, 16:15:23) * (rainemak, 16:15:25) * Long story short. It's currently a feature that requires more (rainemak, 16:15:27) * work. When do we have time to improve it needs more planning. (rainemak, 16:15:29) * Open Pull Requests (PRs) to discussion (5 mins -- asked by Jolla) (rainemak, 16:24:59) * General discussion (10 mins) (rainemak, 16:31:22) * LINK: https://github.com/sailfishos/gecko-dev/tree/sailfishos-esr102 is public, so in theory shouldn't be an issue to test it from community side (rubdos[m], 16:35:00) * Next meeting time and date (2 mins) (rainemak, 16:51:39) * LINK: https://build.sailfishos.org/project/show/home:abranson:gtk (abranson, 16:51:44) * Next meeting will be held on Thursday 26th February 2026 at 04:00pm UTC: 2026-02-26T1600Z (rainemak, 16:55:19) Meeting ended at 16:55:48 UTC.
