bluesleemal- something new, i guess. there is no device beating nexus5 running sailfishos, from a price perspective12:36
r0kk3rzblueslee: onyx fits those specs, maybe not the display12:37
bluesleer0kk3rz the problem with onyx is that you have to drop the sd for running both sims and 16 gb is not sufficient for me12:38
r0kk3rznewer flagships are all 64bit, which is a work in progress12:39
bluesleewhat about all those new xiaomi devices?12:39
bluesleei understand, 64bit arch as a showstopper12:39
r0kk3rzi wouldnt say that, i would say 'work in progress'12:40
bluesleewho works on that?12:40
r0kk3rzits a team effort12:40
bluesleethough i like the versatility of all those devices running sfos, it would be cool if we have our stable 'flagships' to be more attractive to all those users out there12:42
bluesleethere are not many with a wide user base12:43
r0kk3rzhow do you mean?12:43
bluesleenh1402 ping12:43
bluesleer0kk3rz take device xyz and concentrate community porting effort to it to get the software stable so that a lot of users jump on the train12:44
r0kk3rzblueslee: until someone bankrolls a bunch of devices to porters, that wont happen12:45
r0kk3rzand doesnt guarantee great support either12:46
r0kk3rz4 of us have similar-ish sony devices, but theres loads broken because nobody has figured out the fix yet12:46
bluesleer0kk3rz that might be true. we have things like developer reggata on tmo, maybe we should do something similar for porting12:47
bluesleer0kk3rz the idea is to get a critical mass of users on chosen devices, i bought a nexus5 in the past just to be part of it, people will buy devices if there is a clear path12:50
bluesleei read android 6 base support is not far away12:51
blueslee64 bit arch support is wip12:52
bluesleeand afterwards we will rule the world :-)12:52
r0kk3rzblueslee: so pick a device, build community support for bankrolling it, and get some porters agree to do it12:53

haadrYeah, that seemed to get solved by download the complete i486 tarball of the target again, and then pkgconfig "just worked" (before I had to set the lib path env var). Now pkgconfig works, but maybe it doesnt detect the correct libhybris package providing libhardware because all the libhybris packages are compiled for i586 (which is set during configuration because it just checks whether my ARCH is "i*86")18:09
haadrso now I'm trying to make it compile them using i486 as the target instead of i586 to check if that makes it work. But i586 seems to be "hardcoded" in the Makefile and is used even when my PORT_ARCH is i48618:10

haadrhm, pretty sure the kernel is 64 bit and the OS is 32bit. I couldn't install x86_64 gapps, and I seem to remember the kernel source is configured for x86_6419:39
haadrTheKit: After changing that entry in rpmrc, i586 to i486 in my target, I still get *i586.rpm files for libhybris.19:40
TheKitdid you change i586 to i486 or i686 to i486?19:40
erikasHi everyone. Why on my Jolla C devel-su shows: Auth failed?19:41
haadrI changed "buildarchtranslate: i686: i586" to "buildarchtranslate: i686: i386"19:41
TheKiti48619:41
haadr-.- derp19:42
haadrbut shouldnt it then have tried to compile to i386? or give an error?19:43
TheKitwell, yes, in theory19:45
haadrOh, also my droid-config-$DEVICE rpms are compiled to i586... same reason?19:45
haadrdroid-hal-$DEVICE-devel are compiled to i486 correctly.19:46
haadrOkay, changed it to i486 in rpmrc this time and libhybris is also still compiled to i58619:47
haadrShould I need to refresh something for changes in rpmrc to take effect?19:48
TheKithm, no19:48
TheKitdid you change it inside device target?19:48
haadryes19:49
haadrwhy is droid-hal-$DEVICE-devel treated differently?19:49
haadrit compiles correctly...19:49
TheKitit uses a hack to force arch specified inside .spec file19:50

TheKitwell, there should be another way20:08
TheKitI tested rpmrc edit and it worked for me, strange that it didn't for you20:09
TheKitsb2 -t $VENDOR-$DEVICE-$PORT_ARCH20:10
TheKituname -m20:10

haadrHm. Well, Im running all commands from inside the mer skd, in $ANDROID_ROOT.20:14
haadrSo, what script or component is it that sets the target arch? I can't see anything else specifying i586 as a target arch in that rpmrc file, in case my host arch somehow gets misidentified20:15
haadr(with all commands I mean build_packages.sh etc)20:15
TheKithm, have no better idea than playing buildarchtranslate in both rpmrcs20:19
TheKitmaybe someone else can help you20:20
