ExPLITHello guys!13:31
ExPLITDo someone have experience with SailfishOS on Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact LTE SGP621 (scorpion)13:32
ExPLIT?13:32
ExPLITI installed the latest Image from Nokius 2.0.4.14 but i don"t know how to have TWRP and Sailfish in the same time13:33
malExPLIT: I saw on TMO some talk about OOMs on FP2, any info about that, what is eating memory?13:33
ExPLITHi Mal, I think, its Browser (like usual)13:34
malok13:34
ExPLITAll other things are working gr8 on the FP2. I have never been so happy with the Adapation13:34
malExPLIT: btw, I found the reason for LED not working on alpha3, still thinking which way I should fix it13:35
ExPLITOh cool. Are there many ways? Maybe first push update to the developer repo13:35
ExPLITand when anything fine you can release next alpha (beta), when 2.1 is official out?13:36
malExPLIT: either downgrading one package or fixing kernel13:36
ExPLITdowngrading is more simple13:37
ExPLIT:_)13:37
malExPLIT: but probably not for upgrading to next release, I don't know if OTA handles downgrading properly13:37
NokiusExPLIT: Somehow I installed twrp as mention to you may r0kk3rz knows what he did to the windy :)13:38
ExPLITThanks Nokius13:38
malExPLIT: I will wait until 17.02 open os is released at least so I can rebase to that, not sure which comes first, 2.1 or 17.0213:38
ExPLITOK, THX Mal!13:39
malExPLIT: I added old version to devel repo so force updating mce-plugin-libhybris should fix LED13:44
ExPLITOK, thanks, i try it now13:45
abransonso the orientation is a bit screwy on the Sony. The viewfinder and photos come out upside down. I originally thought it was because the 90 deg orientation was being corrected the wrong way, but it doesn't seem that way. anyone seen any strange orientation problems like that on recent phones?13:45
malabranson: only on a device with landscape framebuffer13:46
malnot very recent though13:46
abransonmal: is that some additional piece of camera config that droidmedia's not taking into account?13:49
malabranson: that was in many places in UI, not sure about camera, like pre-usersession startup wizard doesn't work correct, browser also renders content rotated 90 degrees13:50
abransoni think they've only noticed the camera so far, but i'll get them to test. i haven't actually seen one in person yet, only ssh'd in. i feel thoroughly teased :)13:52
malabranson: could be some different issue on that device13:52
abransonhmm yes. another thing - is the HAL just aosp, or are there extra bits in there from CM or CAF?13:52
malabranson: that is CM, can't remember if it's using caf also13:54
abransonmal: thanks a lot13:55
malabranson: I haven't yet made a completely clean fix for browser, need to fix that13:55
abransoni'm quite glad the secret's are out :) the first 32bit android 6 one I was working on was the russian phone, and the 64bit one was the xperia x. exciting times.13:56
malabranson: anyway I think phones almost never have landscape framebuffer (my device is a tablet so landscape makes sense)13:56
Nokiusmal: wasn't there one device with this symthom13:57
malNokius: yes, that was also a tablet13:57
malafaik13:57
malabranson: would be interesting to port the rest of the xperias13:58
Nokiusmh my fisrt guess was the kiss (Firefox device)13:58

dstmabranson: I'm not sure we have the same understanding about metadatainbuffers. There are two uses of the term Metadata. The firs is codec metadata like width/height. The secoond metadataibbuffers is something completely differen.15:33
dstmabranson: it means that buffers contain not the graphics payload but a filedescriptor to the real video data15:34
dstmabranson: the MetadataBufferType is defined in frameworks/native/include/media/hardware/MetadataBufferType.h15:35
dstmit's very well documented15:35
abransondstm: sounds reasonable. it did seem to break the former in my case if the latter was disabled though, but I didn't look hard once it worked again.15:36

ghosalmartinafter that we need to trigger properties manually due to the encryption stuff15:38

vorletzterand if you need official WhatsApp you need to use the "Android Emulator" (yes i know..), which is only available for offical devices like the aquafish, due to license restrictions18:52
muzzlefuzaahhhh okay nice18:52
muzzlefuzOk, i think i first will buy a official device - intex aqua fish - so i will try and check out sailfish os, then if i like i will be interested in porting it , @ mistermagister i am stalking your twitter and see you have got a lot of fun with sfos :)18:53
malI think they were banning quite easily for using unofficial clients18:53
Mister_Magistermuzzlefuz: i started porting more than year ago but i just love sailfish and people often hate me because of this :D18:56
muzzlefuz=)18:56
Mister_Magistermuzzlefuz: once you use sfos there is no way back :D18:56

muzzlefuza little bit off topic but i see the ASUS Zefone 2 (smartphone) is using a Intel atom x86 processor and its able to run windows :) nice19:04
muzzlefuzbut bad performance19:05
Mister_Magistermuzzlefuz: yeah i wanted to buy zenfone with intel and run sfos so i will be able to run virtual machines (windows and linux) but on cyanogenmod camera is not working :CCCCCCCCCCC19:05
Mister_Magisterdue to blobs19:06
muzzlefuzvms on my smartphone that would be nice :)19:06
muzzlefuzits only possible under CM ?19:06
Mister_Magisterunder android it's harder. qemu for android is very very unstable. This is why i wanted sfos because of inux19:07
Mister_Magisteryou can have portable pc :D19:07
muzzlefuz=) yes that would be cool , this is why i am looking forward for the rumored microsoft surface phone, hopefully with x8619:08
muzzlefuzi just read "Put very simply, this is Windows running on a virtual machine on Android. The speed is sluggish, but what really matters is that the installation is fully functional, complete with sound, network access, shared storage access, and more."19:08
muzzlefuzSailfish on a x86 device would be very big fun i think so - i just bought a dualboot china tablet with w10 and android, that would be a nice device for sailos19:10

litewbtw, does it mean that updating kernel package from OBS (with zypper) will trigger boot partition flashing on sfos device? Assuming that all patches from hadk-faq's OTA section were applied.21:38

dstmabranson: yes it's very helpful. There not much changes we have to make, since both omxcodec/mediacodecsource implement the mediasource interface. You might try if it works for u, it's pretty simple. I have additional problems on my device, so I can't properly test mediacodec on it. As u know even OMXCodec doesn't work, so I have first to understand the problem with the buffers on my device22:50
