T42<Heng %lastname%> How do I get into the console without USB (my device is x86 UEFI device and isn't like phones with their USBs) touchscreen not working00:16
T42<Heng %lastname%> @elros34 [name of conf file doesn't matter. It has confi …], so how do I telnet to the device on the x86 native system it doesn't have USB-gadget and all that00:19
T42<elros34> are you sure? init script in initramfs or /init-debug script will hang for 60s and then reboot if your device  is missing usb0 or rndis but clearly you showed working gui00:21
T42<elros34> check dmesg and ifconfig on your host system00:21
T42<Heng %lastname%> @elros34 [are you sure? init script in initramfs or /ini …], its using normal linux initramfs00:21
T42<Heng %lastname%> not hybris-boot00:21
T42<Heng %lastname%> so does it still apply? @elros3400:22
T42<elros34> if you have /init-debug script then yes00:22
T42<Heng %lastname%> @elros34 [if you have /init-debug script then yes], it is using unmodified ubuntu initramfs00:22
T42<elros34> why you dont use hybris-boot initramfs? /init-debug is in your rootfs00:23
T42<Heng %lastname%> @elros34 [why you dont use hybris-boot initramfs? /init- …], i can use that on x86 desktop platform?00:23
T42<elros34> not sure, examine script: https://github.com/mer-hybris/hybris-boot/blob/master/init-script. Have you tried to just remove :/dev/inpute/event1 from /var/lib/environment/compositor/*.conf?00:24
T42<Heng %lastname%> yes i tried remove that00:24
T42<Heng %lastname%> @elros34 [not sure, examine script: https://github.com/m …], here it is: LIPSTICK_OPTIONS="-plugin evdevkeyboard:keymap=/usr/share/qt5/keymaps/droid.qmap -plugin evdevtouch"`, but not sure now00:24
T42<elros34> you could also figure out correct node in ubuntu if you use same kernel and rootfs00:31
T42<elros34> do you have CONFIG_USB_CONFIGFS enabled? I don't know how it works for x86 but on arm mainline I have CONFIG_USB_CONFIGFS_RNDIS CONFIG_USB_ETH_RNDIS CONFIG_USB_F_RNDIS enabled (can't remember which one is needed for telnet)00:33
T42<elros34> if you don't want to use hybris-boot scripts then still usb-moded should setup usb connection for you if you have correct defconfig. So if host dmesg show so usb interface then ssh defaultuser@192.168.2.15 show works too00:40

T42<vaskas> Hi guys, not sure if it's a right place to ask - I'm running a tama port on XZ2 and am trying to make use of a USB-C Sonata HD DAC dongle. It works fine on an XA2, i.e. the sound gets routed through it automatically once connected. The XZ2 ignores it and keeps using the speaker. Am I missing a kernel module or should I dig into PulseAu06:38

rinigus@vaskas: it is a right place and I hope you will get an answer here from someone who knows.08:22
T42<vaskas> @rinigus [@vaskas: it is a right place and I hope you wi …], Thank you! Also on tama, I tried installing sailfish-device-encryption. Which seemed to work fine. I checked mount and df and /home was indeed encrypted. That was during the first boot after the encryption itself. However after a reboot I got stuck at the decryption screen. T09:53
T42he touch wasn't responding and I couldn't enter the decryption PIN. Tried an OTG keyboard but that didn't help. Have you come across this type of issue?09:53
rinigus@vaskas: no, I have not tested encryption on device. the issue that you see could be related to some problems with graphical stack bring up, as there were some extra packages referred to in xperia 10 configs09:58
rinigusbut I don't plan to work on encryption support for tama - as far as I understood it is rather weak due to the small number of combinations available. as a result, brute force attack sounds too simple to be bothered about encryption in this form09:59
T42<vaskas> @rinigus [but I don't plan to work on encryption support …], I agree. The current encryption feels like a placebo. I am just in hope Jolla wake up and allow changing the encryption passphrase to something other than the PIN in the later releases. I can see a lot of movement towards DIY encryption in openrepos, e.g. Slava's Foil apps or10:06
T42 even the Storeman's move to SQLCypher. People don't trust the built in encryption.10:06
