T42_ | <edp_17> @elros34 : Hi, I hope your are well. I have a question for you. On OBS I've build 4.1 (uploaded the locally build .rpms into droid-hal-treltexx). Then, on OBS, I have added to build 4.2 and 4.3. Both of them are succeeded but I am not sure whether they are properly built as I have not built them locally and not uploaded their rpms. So, my question is: Is it possible that 4.2 and 4.3 are working while they both were using old rpms from 4.1? | 09:54 |

T42_ | <elros34> @edp_17 hi, yes all 3 releases in treltexx testing repo use same packages. It's easy to compare: https://repo.sailfishos.org/obs/nemo:/testing:/hw:/samsung:/treltexx. I always update packages but for sure some user tried to update sfos without updating adaptation repo like you, on abandoned devices and it worked until some breaking changes appears | 11:43 |
T42_ | <edp_17> @elros34 : Thanks for confirming. I guess a succeeded build in OBS is not necessarily working on device, am I right? | 11:47 |
T42_ | <elros34> yeah but if it builds then there is a chance it will work | 11:49 |
T42_ | <elros34> many packages were moved to common repo so some of your outdated packages might be irrelevant | 11:51 |
T42_ | <elros34> for example gst-droid and gmp-droid so you only need new enough droidmedia | 11:52 |
T42_ | <edp_17> Thanks. Can I directly go from 4.1 to 4.3 or 4.2 is a stop release? | 12:05 |
T42_ | <elros34> all are stop releases | 12:05 |
deathmist | mal: thanks! btw are there any extra steps required to get 18.1 working (over 17.1)? I've seen people here running it with GUI and all | 12:19 |
mal | deathmist: it depends a bit on the device and how lineage is done, there are two ways to handle the apex stuff and one works better than the other | 12:20 |
deathmist | my device is an older one so I assume it should be easier= | 12:21 |
deathmist | (as in came with Android 7 and updated OEM system/vendor through to Android 10) | 12:21 |
mal | I think it might the opposite, my device which originally had android 10 has issues but xperia 10 iii which is originally android 11 has no issues | 12:23 |
mal | I just need to find out the proper way for the init stuff | 12:23 |
T42_ | <edp_17> Thanks @elros34. | 12:42 |
